METHODOLOGY
Improv your language skills’ sessions are based on creativity, la trust and continuous learning.
When learning a new language, fear is our biggest hurdle.
Fear of not using verbs properly, of not writing a sentence correctly, of not speaking fluently enough, of other people’s opinion…
The first step towards attaining your goals is to break down these limiting beliefs and create a trusting environment, knowing that no one will judge you and accepting that mistakes are an essential part of a learner’s journey.
Improv your language skills was born out of this belief and has developed a methodology that combines both teaching strategies and improv theatre techniques with the aim of learning by doing, simulating real-life situations and losing our fear of making mistakes.
How do we achieve this?
We actively work on all language learning skills.
We use mistakes to learn and build.
We build a relationship with our students where their feedback is key to personalised learning.
Our methodology doesn’t include regular language lessons, but you will of course learn grammar and new vocabulary.
We strongly believe in a relaxed and practical approach to learning.
The structure of these sessions allows you to progress in a relaxed and exciting way.
Who is behind the idea?
Hi there! My name is Marina, I am based in Barcelona and I am a translator, writer and language teacher. I have a wide experience in teaching Spanish to foreigners.
Words, communication and creativity are part of my daily life.
As a student, I’ve studied English, German, Russian, Catalan and Modern Greek.
As an instructor, I teach Spanish and English, both individually and in groups, to people of all ages, levels and countries.
After several years of experience teaching languages in Spain and abroad, and being involved in the world of improvisation theatre and creativity, I decided to combine my knowledge of both disciplines to make language learning fun.
I am also a member of Los Improsibles, a comedy improv theatre group, with whom I’ve been lucky enough to perform in different venues throughout Catalonia.
